What an Anaesthetist does

An Anaesthetist is the doctor responsible for your comfort and safety during surgery or medical procedure. Dr McKevith carefully plans the medications that allow you to sleep or stay comfortable during your procedure, and continuously monitors your breathing, heart, blood pressure and oxygen levels. He adjusts your care moment by moment, to keep you safe and pain-free.

How anaesthesia works

Anaesthesia gently guides your body into a controlled, reversible state — allowing surgery to take place without pain or distress. After your procedure, Dr McKevith remains closely involved to ensure you wake up smoothly and recover comfortably and safely.

“You might not see me, but I’m there the whole time, looking after you.”
